Three Photos Every Fitness Professionals Should Be Taking - insidefitnessmag.com
Written & Photos by James Patrick

Whether your goal is to land features in magazines or to leverage visuals to generate new leads for your brand or business – there are three types of photos that every fitness professional should focus on capturing.

1: Hero Shots

The primary function of a hero image is to showcase and ultimately sell the subject in the photo. Often shot in studio with high key lighting, hero shots are the images used to pitch for magazine covers or feature articles. Additionally, they can be used on a website, business card or marketing collateral.

2: Action / Workout Shots

Shots of you doing what you do best. These can be scripted into a circuit which can be pitched to media outlets or used as part of an instructional program or used as powerful artistic content for social media.

3: Portrait / Lifestyle Shots

A strong portrait can be used as an author or speaker headshot or social media profile image. In addition, lifestyle shots are timeless features that work exceptionally well for social content. Lifestyle shots are often done on location and can illustrate a “day in the life” feel.

Prior to any photo session, discuss your goals and intended use of the imagery with the photographer to help ensure you capture the right images to properly promote and sell you and your brand.
